Mrs. Mansouri participates in the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the Southern African Development Community

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, reiterated Sunday Algeria’s commitment to support the efforts of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) aimed at boosting regional integration and fostering economic transformation in Africa.
In an address delivered at the Embassy of Madagascar in Algiers on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Community’s founding, the Secretary of State said that the SADC has now become a model of regional integration
through ambitious cross-border projects in infrastructure, energy, transport and industrialization.
She added that these initiatives strengthen regional value chains while also consolidating Africa’s standing in global markets, bolstering sustainable growth and economic resilience.
Mansouri noted that giving attention to competitiveness, diversity and innovation comes at a particularly crucial moment, as our continent seeks to reposition itself within a global economy undergoing rapid change.
She underscored that the African Union’s Agenda 2063 remains our shared point of reference, serving as the strategic blueprint for a united, prosperous and peaceful continent.
She further recalled that Algeria will host the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) from 4 to 10 September, calling it an exceptional event that will provide an unprecedented platform for African businesses, innovators, youth and women entrepreneurs to explore opportunities, build partnerships and advance toward the goal of a truly unified African market.
The diplomat further commended Zimbabwe’s SADC chairmanship in Algiers last year, hailing it as marked by a clear vision and by commitment and dedication.
She reiterated Algeria’s commitment to support the SADC’s efforts to consolidate regional integration and drive economic transformation in Africa.
